the Learning Commons is closed between
1:00 AM – 7:30 AM on 1/18 and 1/19

Learning Commons will resume 24/7 operations at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, 1/19

Brief Construction Noise -- Dec. 10 & 11



To finish the construction of the Learning Commons, brief periods of drilling and other noise will occur. 
Please expect noise on:
Dec. 10, afternoon, with the removal of the countertop outside of Love North 2nd floor study rooms
Dec. 11, 6:00 -9:00 a.m. drilling in Love North 2nd floor study area

This work is being done to create the venting system for the new coffee shop.
We apologize for the noise at this time of the semester but you can look forward to the construction be done soon and a new study space and full-service coffee shop.

International Write-In at Love

Writers (and UNL Students) don’t have to write alone at the International Write-In on Dec. 6 from 6-10 pm at Love Library

You are invited to bring any project to the library and work alongside other writers. Free snacks, games, and other de-stressing activities will be on hand. Writing Center Consultants will be available throughout the event to answer questions, help writers get past writer’s block, or join in a quick game. 

The event is free and open to all members of the UNL community. UNL will join at least 73 other schools across the country holding similar events in early December that will bring writers together.  Event hosted by the UNL Writing Center and UNL Libraries.

LEARNING COMMONS LIBRARY ASSISTANT POSITION AVAILABLE

If you answered yes to any of those questions, then the overnight Library Assistant IV position at the Learning Commons may be the job for you!

JOB SUMMARY:  Learning Commons Assistant IV (LAIV) helps maintain a welcoming, comfortable and safe environment in the Commons; helps users with basic information, research, technology, and circulation requests; helps maintain records, library materials, and equipment during overnight hours. Starts at $10.00/hour working Sunday through Saturday—1:00 AM-8:00 AM and an average 7-14 hours weekly.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
o   required: enrolled for a least one credit hour at UNL the current semester
o   Interpersonal and communications skills
o   Basic computer skills
o   Dependability
o   Ability to work without direct supervision or backup present

Located in the middle of campus in Love Library North, the Learning Commons opens on January 11 and comes equipped with group study rooms, a coffee shop, a double-sided fireplace, and a variety of study areas.
