Graybill publishes new study on Millennials in workforce

Jolie Graybill, Assistant Professor, University Libraries, has published a new article on a study that explores possible leadership perceptions of Millennials working in academic libraries that includes definition, attributes, and whether they perceive themselves as leaders. The article, entitled, “Millennials among the Professional Workforce in Academic Libraries:  Their Perspective on Leadership,” was published in the January, 2014 issue of the Journal of Academic Librarianship.

Graybill surveyed Millennials (born 1982 or after) currently working full-time in Big Ten libraries in 2011-12 and found the leadership attributes which Millennials indicated as most important were  group/teamwork, communication, respect, vision, and influence. The study results may encourage current administrators of academic libraries to prepare and plan professional development programming that includes these aspects of leadership for future leadership opportunities that will most likely be filled by Millennials. This may mean that supervisors as a result, need to redesign positions to take advantage of the teamwork interests and skills while also providing Millennials with more support on the other leadership attributes that they might not be as skilled in.

The article can be viewed in the UNL Libraries Digital Commons here: http://digitalcommons.unl.edu/libraryscience/310/

Tax Forms Available -- Love Library & C.Y. Thompson Library

It’s the beginning of a new year, so you all know what that means right!? It’s tax season!  To help you out with this stressful time of year, Love Library has set up a table in the Talk Zone, on second floor of Love South and on East Campus at C.Y. Thompson Library, with all of your tax season needs.

Some of the products have arrived including the forms 1040, 1040 A and 1040 EZ.  The instruction booklets for all the 1040 forms are projected to arrive in late February.

If there is a form you need that is unavailable, you can go to www.irs.gov to download a copy.  The Nebraska Department of Revenue no longer distributes paper forms to public outlets so if you need a Nebraska State tax form you can find it at http://www.revenue.nebraska.gov/.

If you need a tax form from another state, have no fear because the libraries put up a tax map on our government documents page under “State Tax Forms.”  Just go to http://libraries.unl.edu/govdocs to find them.
