Visual Arts Books Move into the Link

In July, a new visual arts collection space in Love Library’s Link will begin to take shape with the move of art and photography books (N-NX & TR) into the area. Circulating books will be interfiled with bound journals and reference books.  Wide aisles between the stacks allow for greater accessibility.

Large tables will be in the area to touch down and spread out. Other great items in the area include scanners, computer lab and a light table.  Don’t forget expert assistance is nearby if you have any questions. Just AskUs!

This is the first big collection move of several moves planned over the summer. Any time you need a book and can’t find it, AskUS (libraries.unl.edu/askus).

We are transforming the Libraries to better meet your needs.

Love South Service Desk moves to Love North during renovation

Starting on Monday, July 7, the main library service desk will move temporarily to the North entrance during the renovation of the Love South circulation desk. The goal of the project is to create a more inviting service point where patrons can get all types of additional services beyond checking out or returning a book.  Receiving research assistance will be a major addition to the services provided.

During the renovation, services normally offered at that Love South desk will be moved to the circulation desk at the Love North entrance.  This includes: Uniprint, Interlibrary loan book pickup, Reserves, checkout and return books, etc. At the Love South entrance only books can still be checked out.

Students Design Drawdels for Love North Learning Commons

Come check out the sixteen different drawdels (drawing + models) posted on the wall of 2nd floor Love South.  These drawdels, designed by teams of Architecture and Construction management students, represent sustainable building strategies made for the upcoming Love North Learning Commons.

Each team included in their design:
·         HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) and plumbing systems that minimize energy and water consumption of the building.
·         Building modifications that minimize energy consumption and contribute to the quality of the indoor environment.
·         Indoor Air Quality recommendations and modifications that provide a healthy and productive work environment.
·         HVAC and plumbing systems that comply to the Lincoln City Plumbing Code, the Lincoln City Mechanical Code, all regulations and statutes of the State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services and with the University of Nebraska Design Guidelines.

Come take a look and see what could be a possibility for the Love North Learning Commons in the future.

The drawdels will be up until February 14, 2014.
