University Libraries appoints new Head of Content and Collections
Casey Hoeve, associate professor, began his position as the Head of Content & Collections at the University Libraries on August 01. The position is new and will develop policies and processes that will manage and grow the collections holistically. One of his challenges is to develop strategies on how the Libraries approach collecting for the vision of a twenty-first century library, accounting for newly emerging types of resources such as streaming media and data sets. In addition, he will assist in facilitating partnerships with information providers and academic libraries in Nebraska, the Big Ten, and beyond to expand resource access to the university community.
Hoeve is looking forward to working collaboratively with liaison librarians and meeting faculty in all subject disciplines to continue to build and manage collections that support their research needs.
“The carefully balanced practice of coupling user’s experience and point of view with data analysis helps drive our decisions when evaluating emerging technology and collections,” explained Hoeve.
Prior to his appointment, Hoeve spent eight years at Kansas State University as the Arts, Architecture, and Humanities Content Development Librarian. He has a BS in Biomedical Science and History from Grand Valley State University (MI) and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from Drexel University (PA). Hoeve has published chapters in several books and articles in such journals as The Serials Librarian, Digital Library Perspectives, and Collaborative Librarianship.
