Cosmetics
and skin care products have been used by many throughout recorded history.
While some are hazardous to human health, many have been validated by cosmetic
scientists and are still in use today. Join us on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 7:00
p.m. in the Adele Hall Learning Commons (formerly Love Library North 1st
Floor), at 13th and R Streets in Lincoln, NE for this SciPop
talk by Rebecca Lai, UNL Chemistry Department, which aims to debunk skin care
myths and demystify new cosmetic and skin care ingredients. It will also address the science
behind cosmetic and skin care ingredients used historically and
state-of-the-art new ingredients that promise to transform our skin. Popcorn will be served. The talk is
free and open to the public.
A related panel
discussion on the topic will also be a part of Women’s Week (March 8-17). Women’s Beauty Panel Luncheon will take
place on March 16th, 2016 from 11:30am-1:00pm. See http://involved.unl.edu/womens-week for more information.
The SciPop talk series combines science and popular culture
and the spring series will mark the third year of these popular talks. The UNL
Libraries provide an online list of books and other resources for every talk,
which can be found here: http://unl.libguides.com/scipoptalks.
