Celebrate Preservation Week, April 26-May 2, 2015


The UNL Libraries invites the UNL community to celebrate Preservation Week by making people aware of the importance of preserving knowledge resources, mementos, and family heirlooms.  There will be a free webinar, a display, and a book preservation demonstration.

April 30, 1:00 p.m., Love Library Room 110 – Webinar “Digital Preservation for Individuals and Small Groups” with Mike Ashenfelder, Digital Preservation Project Coordinator, Library of Congress. Ashenfelder will talk about what is involved in preserving commonly used digital files, such as photos, recordings, videos, and documents. Webinar is FREE and open to all. No registration required.

May 1, First Friday – Sewing a Book. Robin McClanahan will demonstrate how to sew pamphlets together into a bound book. 5:00 p.m. Love Library, second floor. On display Heart & Hands 2015 – Fifth National Juried Book Art Exhibition for Students.

Month of April – Display in Love Library, Lower Level, Archives. The content of display includes obsolete equipment, rare books, and preservation tips.
