Quotations Installation Completed

On Tuesday, June 10, the Nebraska Neon Sign Company installed Nebraska-themed quotations onto the walls of the Mezzanine Room (201) of Love Library.  Here are some pictures from the finished installation.

Genealogy over Lunch: Using the Libraries Resources

The UNL Libraries has many online resources and sometimes they are complicated to navigate.  There are always new things to discover in the Libraries online and print collections.

That’s why the next Genealogy over Lunch will discuss resources that the UNL Libraries provide that you can use to search for your ancestors. 

This discussion over library resources is on June 19, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 110, Love South.  Bring any library resources you have personally used and don’t forget to bring your own lunch!

Thoegersen is new Data Curation Librarian for University Libraries

Jennifer Thoegersen joined the University Libraries on May 1, 2014, as Assistant Professor and Data Curation Librarian. She grew up in Peru, Nebraska and received her BSE in Library Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Thoegersen went on to get her MLIS in Digital Library Learning offered in cooperation between Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (Norway), Tallinn University (Estonia), and the University of Parma (Italy). During her time in Europe, Thoegersen did an internship with the Instituto Centrale Per il Catalogo Unico in Rome, Italy.

In 2013, Thoegersen was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to work in New Zealand at the Computer Science Department of the University of Waikato. She became a member of the team that develops the open-source digital library software, Greenstone. While in New Zealand, she volunteered as a Digital Library Specialist on a project at the University of the South Pacific developing a collection of electronic education resources for Pacific students.

In her new position with the University Libraries, Thoegersen will coordinate the UNL Libraries Data Repository, consult with researchers across disciplines about data management plans, and provide data management instruction.

Nebraska themed quotations, printed on vinyl, will be installed in the Mezzanine Room on Tuesday June 10 from 9 am to 2 pm. The room will remain open during this time. 

UNL Students Share Favorite Books

UNL students told us what their favorite books were, now we have a compiled the list. 

How did we collect the titles?
A blank white board was left out in Love Library during the spring semester with one question written on it -- "What is your favorite book?"

Some of your favorite books includes Divergent, The Hunger Games, The Perks of being a Wallflower, A Game of Thrones, The Hobbit and many more.  Follow the link to the entire list, find where they are located at in the library and you can even look through a list compiled of students least favorite books.
