Big Red Ruckus


























Come in & make some NOISE! @ the Big Red Ruckus, Sunday, August 30, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Love Library.

There will be pizza, drinks, prizes, mini golf, board and video games, information booths, some great sessions on time management and much, much more.  Bring your course syllabi, planner, and your sweet tooth, and prepare to take the library by storm!

Other activities include:
Mini Golf - Play in groups groups of 2 or 3! We'll have 3 holes to play: speed bump, ricochet angle, and snake. Students will be in groups of 2 or 3 golfers.

Adult Takeover Nights w/ Lincoln Children's Museum - Play some over sized games including: Giant Jenga, Giant Twister, and Giant Chess!

Syllabi Planning Party - Bring your class syllabi and your planner and get yourself organized and ready to tackle this semester!

Media Services Gaming Room - Play some of the latest games on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One!

Legos & Architecure - Come build with Legos while learning about how to locate building on campus on one of our databases!

Selfie Spots - Explore the library and find the 9 selfie spots we have hidden. Post them to social media with #BigRedRuckus and be eligible for some really cool prizes!

Name That Tune - Compete against others to see who can recognize and name the most popular songs first!

Introduction to Foundation Center Databases

The Funding Information Network is a network of libraries, community foundations, and other nonprofit resource centers that provide a suite of tools and resources useful to grant seekers. As a member of the Funding Information Network, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries provides a core collection of Foundation Center publications and a variety of other useful resources. One of the most valuable of these tools is Foundation Directory Online, which allows individuals and non-profit organizations to search for possible donors from over 120,000 foundations and corporations! This online database is only available for use within Love Library to patrons.

On September 17, Love Library will be hosting a session that will provide an introduction to the Foundation Center’s comprehensive online database, Foundation Directory Online Professional, Come and learn how to create customized searches to develop targeted listed of foundations that will match your organization’s funding needs. This free workshop is open to the public. Attendees are asked to register for a Community Member Computer Use card prior to the workshop if not already affiliated with the University.

'Save Time and Organize! - Citation Management Quick Tips' Workshops

Need help keeping track of your sources and articles? Come and learn how to use citation management tools that can help you organize and manage your research, give you access to your documents 24/7, and format your bibliography and in-text citations for your papers.

Writing Center in Love Library Link

The UNL Writing Center will have a temporary location in the Love Library Link this semester! It will be held in room N203 and is a place for all students to get help on researching and writing. 

Writing consultants will be available Mon, Tues, Thurs 9 am – 7 pm, Wed 9 am – 9 pm, and Fri 9 am to 12 pm. Students can sign up for appointments by visiting https://unl.mywconline.com

Map Cases Moving

The map cases will be moving from Love North 2nd floor to the Geology Library (10 Bessey Hall) on Friday, August 7.

The filing cabinet containing the aerial maps of Nebraska located on LN 2nd floor will move to the Documents Facility, 1331 Military Avenue the same day.

Please consult staff at Bessey Hall or an ASKus service point if you have questions about maps.

If you like studying in groups for big exams or if you have a group project to work on, our Group Study Rooms might be the right Study Spot for you! Located throughout the 2nd floor of Love Library. Just visit the User Services Desk on the first floor of Love South to check out a study room. Rooms may only be checked out for 2 hours.

Genealogy over Lunch

Dr. N. Brito Mutunayagam, a member of the group, will demonstrate the software package “Inspiration”. He will tell about how he used it to create his family tree and used it to communicate it with chosen audiences.  We will meet Thursday, August 20, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Love Library Room 224 (the Witt Room).
